This policy explains, in plain language, what personal data LearnCred collects when you use our website and services, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it and the rights you have under Indiaβs Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the rules made under it, and the Information Technology Act, 2000.
1. Who we are
LearnCred is a brand of Saharsh Ventures LLP (LLPIN ADD-3198), Thane, Maharashtra 400603 (βweβ, βusβ). We decide how and why your personal data is processed, so we are the βData Fiduciaryβ for it.
2. What we collect
- Account details: Your full name (as it should appear on your certificate), email address and whether you are a student or a working professional. If the payment gateway needs it, we also ask for your mobile number at checkout. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google.
- Assessment data: The topics you attempt, your answers, scores, results, attempt timings and status, and technical details of each attempt such as device, browser and IP address.
- Certificate data: Certificates issued to you, their certificate IDs, issue dates and verification records.
- Payment data: The amount, date and status of payments, and the order and transaction references from our payment gateway. We never see or store your card, UPI PIN or bank login details; Cashfree Payments processes them.
- Messages: What you send us through our contact or enquiry forms, WhatsApp, phone or email.
- Cookies: An essential cookie keeps you signed in. Analytics cookies are used only if you accept them in the cookie banner.
3. Why we use it
- To create and secure your account and log you in (including sending one-time codes).
- To run assessments, calculate and show your results, and let you resume an interrupted attempt.
- To issue, email and let you re-download certificates, and to let anyone verify them.
- To take payments, issue receipts, resolve failed payments and keep records required by law.
- To answer your questions and complaints, and to keep the Platform fair and secure (for example, by reviewing unusual attempts).
- In future, to send you occasional emails about LearnCred courses, assessments and offers. Every such email will have an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time.
We do not use your data for any other purpose, and we do not sell it.
4. Public certificate verification
When a certificate is issued, the details printed on it (your name, field and topic, score, date of issue, certificate ID and validity status) can be seen by anyone who scans its QR code or enters its ID on our verification page. This is how employers and institutions check that a certificate is genuine.
5. Who we share it with
- Payment gateway: Cashfree Payments, to process your payment.
- Email delivery provider: To send one-time codes, certificates, receipts and service messages.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers: Who store and run the Platform for us.
- Employers or institutions: Only if you take an assessment through an invitation from them, in which case they see your results for that assessment.
- Authorities: Where the law requires us to, or to protect our rights and users.
Service providers may only use your data to provide their service to us, and must keep it secure.
6. How long we keep it
- Account and assessment data: while your account is active. If you delete your account, we erase it, except what we must keep for the reasons below.
- Certificate records: for as long as the certificate is valid, so that verification keeps working, unless you delete your account, in which case the certificate is shown as revoked.
- Payment records and receipts: for the period required by Indian tax and accounting laws (currently up to 8 years).
- Messages and enquiries: for up to 12 months after the conversation ends.
7. Your rights
You have the right to access a summary of your personal data, to correct or update it, to have it erased, to withdraw consent, to nominate someone to exercise your rights if you are unable to, and to have your grievances addressed. You can download your data, edit your profile and delete your account from Dashboard β Profile & Privacy, or contact our Grievance Officer. Note that your name cannot be changed on a certificate that has already been issued without a paid correction.
8. Children
LearnCred has no minimum age. If you are under 18, please use LearnCred only with the knowledge and guidance of a parent or legal guardian, who should read this policy with you. We do not knowingly use childrenβs data for marketing or tracking.
9. Security
We protect your data with encryption in transit, access controls, audit logs and regular backups, and limit access to authorised staff who need it. If a personal data breach affects you, we will inform you and the Data Protection Board of India as required by law.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page with its βlast updatedβ date, and we will tell you about significant changes.
