Degrees tell a recruiter you can commit to something for years. They rarely tell them whether you can build a pivot table or write a clear client email on day one.
That gap is why recruiters increasingly look for evidence of specific, job-relevant skills: projects, portfolios, and certificates they can verify.
A certificate is most useful when it is specific (one skill, not βdigital marketingβ as a whole), recent, and verifiable. A QR code or credential link turns a claim into evidence.
Use certificates alongside your degree, not instead of it. They are not a substitute for a qualification, and back each one with an example of where you used the skill.
